Striving to be Cool

I may have given up on being hip years ago, but every Summer I engage in the battle to stay cool. Regardless of what everyone else thinks, it's really not nice to feel like a sweaty mess. Over the last few years my Summertime quests have involved cutting my hair short (and even razoring off most of the underside), fleeing England for the Isle of Man (it's not as oppressive there) and wearing the baggiest clothes I can find. I must stress now that I know sweating is natural, it's just that I'm not good at being too warm. I'd always rather be freezing than feel too hot.

This year two out of three plans are scuppered already! I'll be spending June-September in England writing my MA dissertation, not to mention visiting London in the hottest months. As well as this I'm on a quest to grow my hair out so I can actually do things with it. Sounds like an uncomfortable few months stretch ahead of me...

It won't be too hot in space, right?

As the last few days have been unseasonably warm my sweaty-mess-panic set in early, until I remembered the hair scarf sported by one of the lovely ladies at the last Rad Fat Clothes Swap I attended.

Scarf - Rad Fat Clothes Swap
I've seen a few people wearing scarves like this before, but never realised that it was actually fairly simple to do. It's one of the many things I see and think I'll never be able to do so don't try. (Please tell me I'm not the only one?)

It was a bit shoddy at first, but after a few more practice runs I'm getting there.

So, the moral of today's story is: Actually have some faith in yourself! If I can tie my hair up using two bobby pins and a scarf  then you can do anything you put your mind to.
