Tonight is a charity auction and raffle to help the local farmers who were hit badly by the snow. Many of them have lost a lot of livestock and are facing high costs for repairing fences, securing surviving stock and various other things associated (not to mention the emotional cost of all of this!) I wanted to help out and am sadly lacking in stuff, so cake was my donation of choice!
I really enjoy baking and do it a lot which means that I have quite a few cakes in my repertoire. In the end a dark chocolate drizzle, cream and strawberry cake and a six layer pastel watercolour cake won out! I wanted them to look good enough for people to bid on.
Having found a couple of plates at a charity shop (50p each!) I set to work. 5 hours later, tah dah!
Hopefully all the donations tonight will reach a good price!
